REED PHILIPS
Over a professional decade in journalism, Reed Philips has been sharply criticized for his blunt editorials. From “raging menace” to “self-serving dickhead,” Philips prides himself in the mounting list of names he’d been called since the genesis of his career. With a B.A. in Business and U.S. History and an M.D. in Psychology, he pursued numerous vocations, some of which include camp counselor, college professor and high school vice principle. Upon realizing his hatred for children – or people in general – he changed his profession to low-profile limousine driving in California, only to return to New York as a school bus driver. He was fired within his first week. Questionable career choices aside, Philips’ celebrated accomplishments include contributing societal observations for BBC and dozens of editorials for CNN. He’s also collected several prized titles, including New York Post Power Editor of the Year and National Association of Writers Judge’s Pick.
>> Up Close and Personal with Reed Philips
My Dream Girl... One that can cook up a mean steak and potatoes, and look sexy while doing it.
Superhero or Super Villain
Super Villain. Critics have vilified me and compared me to terrorists all my life. I suppose one can’t escape his own destiny.
Cool Car or Cool House
Cool House. I was a limousine driver for six months. It wasn’t cool.
Fame or Fortune
When I became Chairman of New York Post’s Opinions Division, I had sleazy colleagues who never regarded me more than another suit and tie in the building, suddenly buying me gifts from all directions. Dinner was always paid for and I got enough gift certificates to buy my own Bloomingdales department store. They never got the promotion they wanted, but I had the best one-night stands in my life.
Dream Girl or Dream Career
Career of Dreams, because a career won't cheat on me.
